Song of Hiawatha Revisited

On the shore of Halifax Harbour
By the shining polluted waters
At the door to City Hall
In the pleasant April evening
Mayor Savage stood and waited
With his black robe wrapped around him
His pale face looking eastward
To the land of the Dartmouthians
A proud and stubborn people.
